Fundraising Ideas to Help You Meet Your Goal

Thank you for taking the first step to hosting a fundraiser for Wigs for Kids. There are many different ways to raise funds, and to help us raise awareness along the way. Below are some examples of how others have helped to fundraise for Wigs for Kids.

Read-a-Thon

  • UHse this online platform and create your very own fundraising page
  • Determine your fundraising goal
  • Use the email function to let people know you are hosting a Read-a-thon
  • Commit to reading a certain number of books or pages
  • Invite others to also get involved with your Read-a-thon - create a challenge for number of books or pages read

  • Reach out to everyone in your network
  • Use all of your social media platforms to share your fundraiser

  • Thank your donors throughout your campaign

An example of this is Dalia whose good friend was diagnosed with Leukemia, she was very sad and wanted to make a difference.  Dalia read 19 books and networked with friends and family raising over $3,000.

Check out this example- two sisters turned a party into a fundraiser for Wigs for Kids and called it Wig Fest. In 2020 they hosted Wig Fest virtually and raised over $5,000.  Year one they hosted the party for fun for their friends, and as they were planning for the second year of Wig Fest they decided to turn into a fundraiser for Wigs for Kids while having fun with their friends!

  • Be sure to share the results and thank participants

Join streamers like LavaDaysickle and Commander Xander - who both did fundraising for Wigs for Kids. Lava raised $1,500.  Lava created a "timer" for the automods/bots which helped him in his Twitch chats to post about Wigs for Kids and the fundraiser being hosted.

Secure a Corporate Matching Gift

  • Some businesses have matching gift programs
  • If your employer has such a program, ask them if they will match the amount of pledges you receive through your fundraising activity
  • Ask your donors if their companies also have matching gift programs
